Brewedco Portafilter Puck Stand

I purchased the Brewedco Portafilter Puck Stand as part of a combo kit. The stand is very solidly made and works well with ECM portafilters with good height for my Eureka Mignon Specialta Coffee Grinder. The adjusting screw adjusts the height of portafilter handle enabling stability over 3 points of contact with the stand ensuring that it sits securely with enough clearance for a dosing ring whilst awaiting coffee from the grinder.

I like that dosing of portafilter can be done hands free with no spillage.

Very happy with the Brewed Puck Stand, perfect with my Breville Dual Boiler. Holds the portafilter securely, and easy to clean.

This stand is one of the cheapest I could find but is all-metal. Much more robust than 3D-printed plastic ones which will suffer from the thumping and heat of a hot portafilter head. A metal insert swaps between 58mm and 54mm, and a screw-in bolt sets the handle at the best angle (not all stands have these adjustments). The online description does not mention a couple of things that would be good to know before purchase:
(1) Vertical depth below the 58mm portafilter resting ring is 86mm, below the 54mm insert ring it is 89mm (add 6mm if, like me, you remove and discard the metal base and set the stand on a silicone mat to catch drips and grounds). My portafilter needs 71mm (short spout) or 84mm (long spout) so it fits OK. Other tamper stands, especially the wood ones, are much too shallow.
(2) It is good that the resting ring is strong metal instead of plastic, but it could be improved with a thin silicone inner sleeve to save the portafilter from scratches (perhaps this would increase the cost).
Overall, very pleased.

The product however, hasn't lived up to expectations....mine, that is. I have an EXPOBAR machine and the original portafilters supplied with the machine, get stuck in the tamp station, seems the bodies are a tad too fat, and, ( yes....I did remove the inner ring first), it takes a bit of jiggling to get these portafilters out without spilling grounds out.
For the price paid......does what it's supposed to do regardless.
